The key to any great social media or PR campaign is a
content calendar. Broadcast companies
have one, the media uses one (editorial calendar) and most major corporate
accounts use one. Are you?
When developing your calendar make sure you are aware of
industry trends. For example, if you run a gym then it is your job to know when
national heart health week, national spinach day (today), and other health
related milestones occur. When you are aware of important industry dates, you can
trend along with the topics on your own social media and blogging accounts.
You should also consider how you are writing your content.
Is it ad based? It is all about self-promotion? If so, it is a mistake. Make
sure you are providing real information and value- not just a pitch to gain
sales.
